'Jurassic Park' Author Michael Crichton Dies

Man: [music] Welcome to Jurassic park.

Laurie Neff: Jurassic park, a film made out of the one of many scientific thrillers from Michael Crichton. Crichton's family says the novelist, who also penned books like _The Andromeda Strain_ and _Timeline_ died in Los Angeles Tuesday, after a private battle with cancer.

In a statement, his family said that while the world knew him as a great storyteller, to family and friends he was a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired them all. Along with _Jurassic Park_, a number of his stories became movies, including _The Andromeda Strain_, _Rising Sun_ and _Disclosure_. [noise]

In 1994, he created the award winning TV series, ER. Steven Spielberg, Jurassic Park's director and Crichton's friend for 40 years said Micheal's talent out scaled even his own dinosaurs. He called Crichton a gentle soul who reserved his flamboyant side for his novels.
