Ghetto Science - SmokingShow Video Details ↓ [music] …Mike Atrix: Hello what's up? This is Mike Atrix coming from Sydney Australia. Today I'm going to do a little bit of ghetto science for you. Something you can do on your own. We all know that smoking is not that good for you. It's no secret. People have been talking about that for years but a lot of us don't really recognize how bad it really is. This is a little experiment that I'd like you to try out. If you don't believe me you can always recreate the results on your own. All you need to do this is a few simple things. You're going to need a standard kleenex, I've marked it down as not inhaled and inhaled. And of course you going to need some cigarettes. So I picked Marlboro Light. So bring your lighter and the cigarette. In order to do this all you've got to do is first light up the cigarette. [noise] [music] That's good smoke. You're drawing your cigarette and just pull, I think an average draw. Just pull that smoke in your mouth, don't inhale into your lungs. You just want to blow that smoke through the kleenex. [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] … If you notice, you end up with a brown spot. That's what we call tar. Now that in and of itself is not surprising, I mean chronic smokers have bad teeth. Pretty nasty stuff. Now in part two of the experiment what you want to do is inhale about the same amount of smoke but this time actually inhale it into your lungs. Then you're going to blow it through the kleenex again. [noise] … … … … [music] Notice it's a lot browner on this side. Now of course maybe that's just a fluke, maybe that that doesn't really happen. I repeated the experiment three times. Check it out. [music] So where does the brown go? You don't have to be a doctor or an anatomist to figure out that with one drag of a cigarette all that brown gets left right inside here. And that's just one haul off of a cigarette. Can you imagine what a full cigarette does or what smoking a pack a day would do to your lungs over the course of several years? All of that brown is staying inside of here. If you've ever quit smoking, you know what it looks like when it comes back out. If you don't believe that's what actually happens, you might guess. You know the materials you need. If you're a smoker you've already got at least half of those on you right now. Try it out for yourself, see if I'm lying to you. It could be something that helps you quit. It's a filthy habit. [music] I'm Mike Atrix and this is been Ghetto Science. [noise] … [silence] |
