Cliff Baldridge: Hello, this is Cliff Baldridge, producer, director of Santa-Barbara Arts TV and chief technologist of the elite tech review dot com.

At the consumer electronics show 2008, which we attended as distinguished press in Las Vegas, we were introduced to an incredible company in Japan which allowed us to test their brand-new NoPoPo, water-powered, rechargeable batteries. As usual at Santa Barbara arts TV elite tech review dot com we were commanding the floor at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at the convention center in 2008 when we were hunted down by another innovative electronics vendor. Iqua from Finland hunted us down to show us their brand-new solar powered bluetooth headset, the world's first.

And now, we're going to show you the NoPoPo water-powered, rechargeable batteries. These batteries are designed for emergency as they only need water and other fluids for charging. Available in double A and triple A sizes, and these actually works water-powered double A and triple A batteries. It's amazing.

All you do is use a standard eye-dropper, used to add water to the batteries in the end. There's a 10 year shelf-life. They're non-toxic, eco-friendly and water works best. Other fluids work in emergencies: tea, beer and, they claim, even urine. Well we didn't test that but we tested them with water and they work. Can you believe it? Rated at 500 mAH and 1.5 volt and the best for radios and LED flashlights.

When the charge gets low, just refill with water. You can get numerous charges out of this battery, that's for sure. So we're excited to be showcasing the brand-new NoPoPo water-powered, rechargeable batteries with technology developed in Japan.

A single triple A version can run a small hand-held flashlight for up to 20 hours. You can even use beer and apple juice, saliva, urine, cola. All these liquids work with this battery. Inside the batteries, a mixture of carbon and magnesium reacts with the liquid to produce power.

Unlike conventional dry cell batteries, NoPoPo batteries don't deteriorate over a short period of time. They can retain their charge for 10 years, making them perfect for emergency situations. Be warned, though, they can only be filled a finite number of times.

The NoPoPo water battery also is better for the environment. They don't contain harmful substances such as mercury, hexavalent chrome, lead or cadmium so you can dispose of them with a clear conscience.

As well as powering smaller devices, the NoPoPo batteries can link in series to create larger power cells to join multiple power lamps or other devices and the effects are astonishing. They are currently available in Japan for sale, going global shortly.

We bring you the best here at Santa Barbara arts TV partnered with YouTube's elite tech review dot com and we're excited to be showcasing the environmentally friendly NoPoPo double A and triple A batteries which are water-powered, rechargeable batteries which help our environment. Please check it out.
