How to properly clean and your regulator after divingShow Video Details ↓ scubacom: You just got off a great dive and you grabbed yourself a couple lobsters, maybe in the Caribbean and some Manta Ray's go floating by. But by the end of the day, you've got to make it a point to clean your regulator thoroughly for your next day of diving. The first thing you want to do when you take your regulator off of your tank valve, you want to make a point to put the dust cover back on and blow that water off there so you don't have any moisture going into the first stage. Get that secured and then you'll want to soak it for a little while with as warm of water as you can, maybe 120 degrees, but no more. If you have the capability of having a tank available, you want to attach your first stage to the tank, turn the air on, put the regulator in a bucket of water and then squeeze your purge button a couple of times. That's going to allow the water to circulate throughout the second stage, getting it nice and cleaned out of all the maybe sand and salt water. After you've completed that, if you can't use a regulator with a tank, you want to make sure to have your dust cover on and when you immerse it in a body of water, your warm water, don't push the purge button because you can then get water up into the second stage up into the first stage and possibly cause some corrosion down the road. If you do this daily, this is going to keep your regulator functioning all the time to the best of its ability and just make it a point that every year do your normal manufacture warranty check up and you're going to have a great time and a long life with your regulator. |
