Hand Feeding a Giant OctopusShow Video Details ↓ Man: Hi. I'm here behind the cephalopod exhibit to feed and check up on our giant pacific octopus. She's right over here right now and it looks like she's pretty hungry. I've brought up some different foods for her to eat. I've brought up some fish. We'll see if she likes that. As I'm rubbing the fish over her suction cup, she's actually able to taste the fish from the suction cup. I also have some shrimp. We'll see if she's interested in that. There you go. OK, look at me. And then her favorite food is squid. If you watch closely, at the octopus's skin, you'll see that it actually changes colors and they're amazing at doing that. They'll change their colors not only to blend into their environment so they can hide, but they also change their colors to communicate emotions. |
