Louella Hill: Community harvest is a program that promoted environmentally sustainable foods in Brown University dinning halls. Farm fresh Road Island really branched out of my work with community harvest. Farm fresh works to get local food onto local dinner plates.

I like to think that I just caught onto a revolution at the right moment. I guess what my work has been is to connect the urban and the rural and have these two groups meet each other and realize that they depend upon each other. Once a person's gone on a farm field trip and once they know that a farmer's name is Margaret or Allen or Barbara, then it becomes personal.

It's not an anonymous source of food. The truth is it takes work to eat locally. But the good thing is, is that it tastes incredible. People feel great when they eat well, when they eat healthier, eat fresher. I see change happening and I feel like I'm actively part of it. Once you taste it, then you're done for. There's no going back, you... [laughs] You're ruined. You have to eat good local food for the rest of your life. [music]
